CHAPTER IV

The module concept

Modules are the building blocks of our site. They encapsulate blocks of content that we embed at different positions on a page.

A component can have many modules. The news component, for example, could have a module instance showing the detailed view of a particular article, another showing breaking news, another showing the most-read articles, and so on.

Encapsulation allows us to move them freely within the system, update them without compromising the application, or assemble a particular page configuration.

A page will normally have a main module. The page's description, title and other values should be set by that module, which represents the page's underlying purpose.
