CHAPTER I

Objectives

In this project, I will try to establish whether bespoke software built from the ground up can offer architectural advantages comparable to those of the leading CMSs on the market.

Main objective:

Present a broadly applicable structure for creating a software producer’s own content management foundation. Develop a visual page-building interface in the back end that differs from existing products and aims to be more natural and intuitive: configuring a page and the content it can contain, rather than specifying which content appears on which page.

Additional objectives:

Implement a simple on-demand caching system, rather than a time-expiry cache.

Use components in the back end to encapsulate functionality.

Use modules in the front end to render pages.

Retain the MVC structure throughout the application.

Define interfaces for creating modules and components.
